ECE 4606 Radio Engineering (3C)
Wireless application circuit design for gain and filter control at radio frequencies to interface the baseband processing systems and the antennas of communication systems. 4606: Design of amplitude, frequency, and pulse-modulated communication systems, including modulators, detectors, and the effects of noise. Design basics and guidelines for phaselocked loops and several power amplifier configurations.
The second course uses these circuits in communication systems and discusses the principles of operation of several common systems. This course also studies the design of power amplifiers.
Technical Elective. Typically offered: Spring. Program Area: Communications.
Prerequisites: C- or better in 4605.
4605 is a prerequisite for 4606 as denoted by the numbering scheme. Must of the material of 4606 is based on the design and processes presented in 4605.

- analyze AM and FM detector systems using the principles of modulation and demodulation;
- analyze the spectral properties of modulated waveforms;
- explain the design process of the overall communication system and the power amplifiers used in the system.
