ECE 3354 Electric Power Engineering Laboratory (1C)
Laboratory experiments based on principles of electric power engineering
This course provides the students with the practical aspects of power related equipment, connections, operation and measurement.
Required for all EE majors; Technical elective for CPE majors. Typically offered: Fall, Spring. Program Area: Power.
Prerequisites: Co-requisite: 3304.
The students are expected to have acquired the fundamentals of three-phase circuits, generators, motors, and transmission lines. These materials are covered in 3304.
Department Syllabus Information:Major Measurable Learning Objectives:
- develop models of transformers, motors, and transmission lines from experimental data,
- apply models to predict the physical outcome of the experiments,
- evaluate the models to demonstrate conditions beyond the limitation of the lab, and
- measure real and reactive power in single- and three-phase circuits.
|Power flow in three phase systems||10%|
|Single Phase Transformer||15%|
|Power Flow on Transmission Lines||10%|
|Demonstration power quality and harmonic distortion||5%|
|Demonstration power quality, efficiency of HID Lamp||5%|
|Development of computational models||10%|
