Sarah Airey (CPE, '01) has been honored with several distinguished awards. She has been awarded a Marshall Scholarship for a two-year graduate program in the United Kingdom. She was named one of the country's top 20 students by USA Today, and she was named the 2001 Outstanding Senior by the College of Engineering.

Airey spent last summer with villagers in Ghana showing them how to use computers and learning how the people live. She plans to focus her graduate studies on computer speech and text processing.

"I'm interested in application such as real-time translation, where people of different languages can converse, or the Internet could be translated into a local language," she said.
