ECE Progress Toward Degree Policy

University Policy 91 outlines university-wide minimum criteria to determine if students are making satisfactory progress towards the completion of their degrees. The ECE Department fully supports this policy.

Specific expectations for satisfactory progress for Electrical and Computer Engineering majors are outlined below:

  • Each student must meet the minimum university-wide criteria as described in Policy 91 and summarized in the Undergraduate Course Catalog and Academic Policies catalog.
  • Additionally,
    • After attempting 60 credit hours:
      • Computer Engineering (CPE) students must have satisfactorily completed ECE 2504 or 2574, Math 2214 and (2224 or 2534), and Physics 2306.
      • Electrical Engineering (EE) students must have satisfactorily completed ECE 2004, Math 2214 and 2224, and Physics 2306.
    • After attempting 90 credit hours:
      • CPE students must have successfully completed 28 credit hours of inmajor courses and have 2.0 overall and in-major GPAs.
      • EE students must have successfully completed 26 credit hours of inmajor courses and have 2.0 overall and in-major GPAs.

Students that are identified as not making adequate progress towards their degrees will be placed on academic probation by the College of Engineering and must comply with the College’s procedures for continued enrollment.

This standard was reviewed and approved by the ECE Department Curriculum Committee on March 18, 2004.
