Reading Assignments
ECE 5564 Wearable and Ubiquitous Computing
Spring 2005

Reminder:  Summaries of the upcoming week's reading assignments must be mailed to me at tlmartin@vt.edu by 5 p.m. on Monday.  Please send your summary as plain ASCII text--no attachments or HTML please.

Please check this page often, as the list will change based upon how the situation develops.

The papers in the table below that are available through IEEExplore or the ACM Digital Library are available from on-campus; if you want to access them from off-campus, you should use the proxy server as described on the VT Library site.   I also have local copies of many of the papers ; the general format of the file names is author-last-name_year-published.  Access to the local copies requires your machine to be in the VT domain

Supplementary readings are optional and you do not need to write summaries of them.  You may want to skim them, however, as they provide either additional information or different viewpoints.

Jan 31
iswc01_tutorial, Mudge_01, Kim2003, Chandrakasan_92
Low power -- For the Chandrakasan paper, sections I, II, and IV are the most important for us. Skim the other sections, but don't focus on them.

Supplementary reading: Energy Efficient Technologies for the Dismounted Soldier,  chapter 4, pp. 46-50.You might find it enlightening to skim the unassigned sections of this book too, as well as a follow on study, Meeting the Energy Needs of Future Warriors.

You don't need to write a summary for the iswc01_tutorial.  It's a somewhat out-of-date overview of the low power area.
