Associate professor position at the Advanced Research Institute 071312

Note: This position is at the Advanced Research Institute in Northern Virginia


Position Summary:


  • Tenured faculty position in information security, critical infrastructure interdependencies, and use of information technology in designing resilient infrastructures.
  • Ability to teach undergraduate and graduate coursework in the field, including distance learning courses.
  • Establishment and/or continued development of a nationally and/or internationally recognized research program.
  • Participation in departmental, college, and university committees.
  • Experience in directing graduate student research at both MS and PHD levels.
  • Advising and mentoring undergraduate and graduate students.
  • Participation in outreach activities such as continuing education workshops.
  • Obtaining sponsored funding in support of a research program.


Required Qualifications


  • Doctoral degree in the area of electrical engineering, computer science or computer engineering required.
  • Demonstrated record of scholarship as evidenced by publishing in peer reviewed conference and journal publications.
  • Establishment and/or continued development of a nationally and/or internationally recognized research program.


Preferred Qualifications


  • Extensive research engagement, publication and funding records in information security and trust, and in risk assessment and management of interdependent critical infrastructures including communications systems, electric power systems, transportation network, and water and waste-water systems.
  • Applicant currently holds tenure position. A proven record of obtaining funding in the above outlined areas. Commensurate industry/government experience preferred.


Education


  • Doctoral degree in electrical engineering, computer science or computer engineering .

  • Commensurate with experience
