Virginia Tech has been designated as a National Center for Academic Excellence in Information Assurance Education by the National Security Agency (NSA). The designation is given to universities that meet strict standards of education and is part of NSA’s efforts to increase the number of professionals with information assurance expertise. The 67 universities that are designated as centers are eligible for special scholarships and grants through the Federal and Department of Defense Information Assurance Scholarship programs.
Virginia Tech’s effort involved 21 faculty members from ECE, computer science, accounting and information systems, and finance, insurance, and business law. ECE participants include Jung-Min Park, Scott Midkiff, Luiz DaSilva, and Michael Hsaio. The effort was coordinated by Nat Davis.
