Yong Xu was named one of five Outstanding New Assistant Professors by the College of Engineering in April.
Xu has published 40 peer-reviewed papers that have been cited by more than 760 authors in the optics literature. This extraordinary number of citations is a reflection of the importance of his work in the field of optical devices and nanophotonics, the new field involving the interaction of light with sub-wavelength size bodies.
For his work he has been given an NSF CAREER Award. He is also receiving an Air Force Office of Scientific Research grant for his proposal to work on nonlinear fibers.
